I went to New Zealand on my spring break during study abroad in Australia, and some of my best days were in Queenstown, New Zealand, where I survived the jaws of death…. EXTREME!

DAY 1: I went bungy jumping off 134m with only one rope as my source of survival. It was a terrifying experience, but loved it! Unlike skydiving, where you are strapped onto someone else and basically have no choice to back out, bungy jumping is a decision that YOU must make. There were several people who stood at the edge, looked at the bottom of the cannon, and decided to walk back down. You have to jump by yourself, and you just have to trust that everything is going to be okay. For me, the experience of falling while bungy jumping was akin to jumping off a building…. but fortunately, you *hopefully* WON’T be hitting the ground. The entire time, my stomach just had a gut wrenching knot until I stopped bouncing up and down, and the guys at the top started pulling me back up. At the end of the jump, we also were able to go gondola riding up for a gorgeous view, and then luging down (including me running off the side of the mountain), and ending off the day with a sky swing where I had to launch myself into the swing by pulling out my own pin and propelling myself forward.

DAY 2: We went jetboating on the Shotover river with the craziest driver ever. Our faces were frozen from the ice cold water as we headed straight into the cliffs, swerving suddenly so that we were missing the cliffs by INCHES. It was a great way to start the day as we later then flew in a helicopter to the top of the site that we white water rafted down with the meanest sergeant rafting guide ever. For a group of almost all girls, we did pretty well keeping up with the other boats, although there were certainly moments where we were worried that we were all falling over.

DAY 3: RIVER….BOARDING……… I don’t even have words to describe this. This was one of those experiences where it sounds like a great idea and it would be fun, but in reality, it would have been a much better decision to have chosen something easier… like skydiving. Let’s just say I don’t regret it but I’m glad we SURVIVED : )

For adventures like these, I wish that GoPros were more affordable at that time and that I could’ve had more pictures of these activities but….. I’m just glad to be ALIVE!
